THE work of staff and volunteers at the East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau has been highlighted by a local MSP.

Tom Arthur, who represents Renfrewshire South, lodged a motion in the Scottish Parliament recognising the work the team do in helping more than 7,000 clients.

Between them, the team of volunteers dedicate almost 8,500 hours to assisting people across the area.

Mr Arthur visited the team in Barrhead to present them with a copy of the motion that was made at parliament.

The SNP man said: “The staff at East Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau do fantastic work in helping people with a range of issues, from benefits appeals to housing issues.

“In assisting the most vulnerable, they ensure that people have the best support possible – and have a tremendous 79 per cent benefit appeal success rate.

“The work of CAB is so vitally important in delivering advice and signposting to services that can assist people who need help.

“I want to thank all the staff and volunteers for all that they do and I look forward to continuing to support them.”
