Barrhead’s United Reformed Church welcomed scores of supporters to a fundraising event on Saturday.

The coffee morning, which raised more than £370, was enjoyed by people from a number of churches throughout the area.

Myra Rose, president at the United Reformed Church, said: “This was just part of our fundraising activities.

“Some of our events are to help our other groups and charities but, this time, we managed to raise £370 for the church, which was absolutely splendid.

“We had around 50 or 60 folk who turned up, ranging in age from children to older people.

“It was really nice to see people from other churches in the area come along as well.”

The money raised at the coffee morning has already been earmarked for spending within the church.

Myra explained that the church’s audio system is in need of an upgrade.
It is hoped that a new set of speakers and microphones will improve the quality of services for those who go along.

Myra added: “We are trying to update our audio system, so the money raised at this event will be a big help with that.

“We got a new projector recently and putting in more new technology should make a huge difference, making it much easier for people to hear what is going on.

“I am very grateful to those who came along to support us on Saturday, as we realise there was competition from other coffee mornings in the area on the day.”
