COMMUTERS in Renfrewshire are being warned about major disruption on the railway affecting several services.
Due to a fault with the signalling system at Newton Lanark scores of services running out of Glasgow are experiencing severe disruption with many trains being cancelled or delayed by more than an hour.
The services which have been affected are:
Edinburgh to Glasgow via Falkirk High
Glasgow to Aberdeen
Glasgow to Cathcart Circle/Neilston/Newton
Glasgow to Whifflet
Glasgow to Ardrossan/Ayr/Largs
Glasgow to Falkirk Grahamston/Cumbernauld
Glasgow to Shotts
Glasgow to Inverness
Glasgow to Dunblane/Stirling/Alloa
Lanark to Glasgow Central High Level
A ScotRail spokesman said: "We are dealing with a major signalling issue in Newton area, severe disruption is ongoing.
"Our staff have been mobilised and are on site. Once we have more information from the ground we will keep you updated."
Disruption is expected until at least 6pm.
