LIFESAVERS from Neilston and Uplawmoor First Responders were given the VIP treatment when they were welcomed to the Scottish Parliament.

Renfrewshire South MSP Tom Arthur invited members of the team and then used a Members’ Business Debate to highlight the work they do.

During the debate, the SNP man spoke of the invaluable efforts of the first responders to deliver frontline medical care to communities.

Mr Arthur said: “We owe a debt of gratitude to the volunteers and staff who provide this lifesaving service.

“I was pleased to meet with some of the team when they came to hear the debate in the Scottish Parliament.”

Mr Arthur also took the opportunity to reiterate his long-term support for the group of volunteers.

He added: “It was great to hear the Minister for Public Health and Sport, Aileen Campbell, say she will be happy to engage and listen to suggestions on the long-term financial sustainability of our first responders.

“Our first responders from Neilston and Uplawmoor receive fantastic support from across the communities they serve and I look forward to supporting them as they continue their outstanding work.”
