AN East Renfrewshire club is celebrating success at the Glasgow Life Sports Awards.
The St Angela’s Participation Centre (SAPC) Community Sports Hub, in Darnley, was nominated for four prizes at the event, staged in Glasgow City Chambers.
And the SAPC team were delighted to win the Sport Club of the Year title.
Launched three years ago, SAPC aims to give children who live in Darnley and the surrounding area the chance to participate in sport at no cost.
The established community sports hub is run entirely by volunteers and exists to promote social integration through sport and personal development opportunities, while also raising awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
The sports available, which include basketball, football, badminton and cycling, are run by specialist coaches, with the Sycamores netball team set to be coached by an under-21 Scottish international at the launch of their new sessions.
Secretary and founder of SAPC Thomas Buik said: “We are so happy and so humbled to have won this award.
“All our volunteers work incredibly hard all year round, so it’s great for them to receive recognition.
“We are so excited for what 2018 has to bring.”
