Fun sessions which encourage young children to pick up a book are proving to be a big hit at East Renfrewshire’s libraries.

The aim of the Bookbug gatherings is to spark the imagination and bring reading to life.

Children who go along can enjoy songs and stories, as well as spending some quaility time with their parents.

Separate sessions tailored for babies and toddlers are on offer, while there are also open groups catering for children up to the age of four.

There are four sessions to choose from at the Barrhead Foundry, with babies aged up to 18 months taking centre stage on Wednesdays, starting at 10.30am.

Kids aged between 18 months and four years can go along at 10.30am on Fridays.

There are also sessions for those aged up to four years on Saturdays, starting at 10.30am, and on Sundays, starting at 11.30am.

Families can also get ‘bitten’ by Bookbug sessions at Busby Library, Clarkston Library, Eaglesham Library, Giffnock Library, Mearns Library, Neilston Library and Thornliebank Library.
