One of Britain’s most inspirational athletes is urging people across East Renfrewshire to go ‘on the run’ for charity.

Jo Pavey is hoping Barrhead News readers will sign up for the Stroke Association Resolution Run, which takes place at Glasgow Green on March 11.

The 43-year-old World, European and Commonwealth medallist issued the call in support of a major fundraising drive which aims to help those affected by stroke.

Runners who sign up for the March 11 event will be able to tackle either a 5k or 10k course.

Jo said: “You don’t have to be a medal-winning athlete to take on the Resolution Run for the Stroke Association.

“This event is ideal for people who are putting on their trainers for their first charity run, through to more experienced runners. The added bonus is that the funds you raise will help even more people recover from a devastating stroke.

“As a mother juggling the demands of being a full-time athlete, I know how tricky it can be to find the time to train. I often push a buggy on my training runs and clock up miles on the treadmill whilst the kids are in bed.”
