Celtic are continuing their hunt for a goalkeeper after having a second bid for Motherwell’s Trevor Carson rejected.

It is understood Motherwell turned down a £375,000 offer for the 29-year-old, who they value at double that amount.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Tuesday night that Scott Bain was among a number of goalkeepers under consideration after Craig Gordon was ruled out for 12 weeks with a knee injury.

But the Scotland squad player recently joined Hibernian on loan from Dundee, who earlier rejected Celtic’s bid for defender Jack Hendry. Hibs are also reportedly interested in re-signing Scott Allan, who is on loan to Dundee from Celtic, which could spark a complicated three-way negotiation.

The Scottish champions have also reportedly made contact with Newcastle over Freddie Woodman, but Aberdeen are confident of completing a loan deal to sign the England Under-20 keeper, who had a spell with Kilmarnock last season.

Hibs have completed one deal with Florian Kamberi signed on loan from Grasshopper Zurich after training with the club for two weeks. Anthony Stokes’ departure is expected to be confirmed after a disciplinary issue.

Rangers are continuing to resist the temptation to sell Alfredo Morelos after receiving serious interest from a Chinese club, while they have signed Scotland Under-19 winger Glenn Middleton from Norwich for their academy.

Motherwell are understood to have completed the loan signing of former Hamilton and West Ham left-back Stephen Hendrie from Southend.

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is hoping to wrap up four deals in the final stages of the window, with Fulham and Wales winger George Williams most likely to sign.

But a move to bring in Aberdeen wide player Scott Wright on loan looks to have faltered and Wright has struggled to persuade Kilmarnock to part with Rory McKenzie.

Kilmarnock have allowed defender Daniel Higgins to go on loan to Airdrie after making only one appearance since joining from Dundee last summer.

Hamilton manager Martin Canning is hoping to sign four players – with two defenders and two midfielders on his wish-list.

Canning confirmed midfielder Darian MacKinnon would be out for at least two months and possibly the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury last weekend.

He said: “We are quite far down the line with two. A third one I thought was done (on Wednesday morning) and I’ve since found out the club he’s at are being a lot more difficult to deal with getting him out his contract. So that one is now in the balance.

“We have another two I’m speaking to so hopefully we can get maybe four in over the next couple of days.”

Ross County are also keen to make additions but Partick Thistle could have a quieter deadline day.
