COPS have launched a search for a man who vanished on Sunday afternoon.

Alexander Smith, 38, was last seen near to Saltcoats train station at around 5.20pm on Sunday, January 7.

He is described as white, around 5 foot 10 inches in height with short, receding black hair and slim build.

He has a tattoo on his right arm and uses a crutch to assist with walking.

When last seen, he was wearing a dark jacket, blue polo shirt and dark jeans.

Inspector Jim McMillan, local area Inspector, said: "Since Alexander was reported missing to us, we have carried out significant enquiries in the Saltcoats area to trace him, as we believe he is still in the vicinity.

“I urge anyone who has seen him since Sunday 7 January 2018, knows of his present whereabouts or has any information that will help us find him to contact officers at Saltcoats Police Office via 101 quoting incident number 2292 of 7 January 2018.”
