MURDER cops have launched a probe after a man was found seriously injured on a Glasgow street close to a school.

The man was discovered in the early hours of Monday morning on Paisley Road West close to Lourdes Secondary School.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where his condition has been described as stable.

The busy secondary school in the city's Cardonald remained opened while cops carried out their investigations.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We received reports of a man being found seriously injured on Paisley Road West around 12.45am on Monday morning.

"The man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

"Medical staff say he is in a stable condition.

"Police are now appealing for information on what is being treated as attempted murder."

Councillor Alex Wilson took to social media to say that the road was closed between Berryknowes Road and Mosspark Boulevard.
