Talented knitters kept the creativity in Christmas at their annual fair.

Members of Bourock Parish Church’s Craft Club had been busy knitting winter warmers and bespoke goods to sell.

Linda Dye, Session Clerk at the church, said: “The fair was wonderful. The club managed to raise more than £1,000 on the day and they still had some items to sell, so the total is sure to rise.

“The event was to showcase what the club do and the hall was very busy with people visiting, buying and enjoying hot drinks.

“The money will go towards the running of the club, so it was a great effort by all.”

The Craft Club meets every Monday and is involved in a number of projects at the church, including this year’s shoebox appeal.

Linda added: “There are only around 20 members of the club, so it is amazing the amount they have managed to produce – and to such high standard too.

“As well as hand-embroidered cards and nativity scenes which are very popular, they have made winter hats which were added to the Christmas boxes organised by our Junior Church.

“We do the appeal every year and have sent more than 3,000 boxes filled with toothbrushes, toothpaste, a little toy and the hats to children all over the world.

“It is a great thing for the youngsters to get involved in because it opens their eyes to the fact that these items are all some children will receive this year.

“The whole congregation gets involved in donating bars of soap or whatever they can and then the craft club tops it all off.”
