REVELLERS turned out in force to enjoy festivities at one of Paisley’s most treasured venues.

Volunteers at the Sma’ Shot Cottages hosted their Christmas fair on Saturday, with people from far and wide coming along to join in the celebrations.

They were able to browse through a variety of stalls selling goods such as jewellery and Christmas decorations.

Cath Mitchell, president of the Old Paisley Society, which runs the cottages, said the event was a great success.

She added: “It was an extremely busy day and everyone who came along had a super time.

“We had all sorts of Christmas goodies on offer and people came from all over to see us. We had some guys who travelled from Edinburgh.

“There was easily a few hundred people at the cottages, including many we had never seen before.

“All of the money raised will go back into the upkeep of the cottages. The buildings are very old, so there are always things needing done.

“We are all volunteers in the society and are grateful for the support we receive.

“My volunteers are truly fantastic.”

The tourist attraction includes a weavers’ cottage which was built in the 1750s.

Visitors can check out original weaving looms and learn about the origins of the Sma’ Shot Day celebrations held in Paisley in July each year.

Many of those who went along to the Christmas event enjoyed a guided tour of the cottages, which are open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from April to September.
