A POPULAR East Renfrewshire supermarket will close next week.
Bosses at Whole Foods Market, in Giffnock, have confirmed the store is to shut for the final time on Tuesday, November 28.
The closure comes in spite of gutted shoppers calling for the firm's US owners, Amazon, to rethink the shock plans.
The Fenwick Road store is Whole Foods Market's only Scottish outlet.
An online petition was started earlier this month in a bid to save the supermarket, which was built on the site of the former Safeway store six years ago.
In a statement which appeared on the Whole Foods Market front doors, supermarket chiefs insisted they would work to find "alternate employment opportunities" for staff.
It reads: "Fresh and Wild LTD/Whole Foods Market recently entered into a consultation process with team members to assess the business situation at our Giffnock store.
"After careful evaluation and discussion with team members, we have made the difficult decision to close the location effective November 28, 2017.
"We are working closely with all impacted team members to explore alternate employment opportunities. We remain committed to the UK market and will continue to look for ways to high-quality natural and organic products to our customers.
"We will be honouring our Christmas donation promises to our local partner, Glasgow City Mission, and will be donating surplus food.
"We would like to thank our customers, charity partners, local suppliers and our team members."
