HELENSBURGH Netball Club were victorious in a thrilling encounter with long-time rivals Eastbank at Glasgow Caledonian University last week.

In an end-to-end encounter Burgh won 37-34.

Burgh made a strong start in attack, with Katie Howell demonstrating good holds, allowing Carly Park to dominate movement in the circle, strongly supported by Louise Mundie.

The defence was strong throughout as Yasmin Malloy and Ilona Grieve provided vital interceptions throughout the match.

Nicola Sloan took to the court and paired up with long time shooting partner Louise Mundie to make an impact.

The Burgh circle defence of Rebecca Gammon and Rhonda Phillips worked tirelessly, showing an impressive work rate which they sustained from start to finish.

Burgh capitalised on opposition misses late on to go within touching distance of the win.

The last quarter saw Jenny Paterson return to WD to continue the hard work put in by mid court defence and put pressure on a tiring opposition.

Katie Howell and Carly Park returned to the shooting circle to bring the victory home in style with some fantastic shooting.
