A woman returned home in the middle of the night to find a thief standing in her hallway holding stolen goods.

The crook escaped through the front door but the victim later discovered that some items were missing.

The man sneaked into the Carlibar Road property in the early hours of Tuesday morning, despite several people being in at the time.

Sergeant Michael Morganthaler, of Giffnock Police Station, said: “The female householder returned home and discovered a male suspect within the hallway who made off via the front door of the house.

“She later discovered that property with a value of £30 had been stolen from within.

“There were other people in the house at the time and it appears he has entered through an unsecured door.

“The suspect is described as a male in his late teens or early 20s, about six-feet tall and wearing dark clothing."

Anyone with information relating to this incident, or who may have witnessed anything unusual in the area at the time, is asked to contact police on 101.
