Plans have been announced to add some sparkle to Barrhead’s festive season by staging a giant Christmas party in the town centre.
Thousands of people are expected to gather for a special celebration to switch on Barrhead’s Christmas lights, with the event organised by the town’s Business Improvement District (BID) team.
A similar event last year proved to be a great success and it is hoped that the 2017 version will be even bigger and better.
Featuring a new-look Santa parade, a Christmas market and grotto, funfair rides and fireworks, the Big Barrhead Christmas Lights Switch-on will take place on Saturday, December 2.
To celebrate the announcement, the BID’s All About Barrhead steering group has released a promotional video featuring staff from a number of member businesses, including Tesco, Pioneer Mutual Credit Union and L’Arco.
Andy Dunlop, Barrhead BID manager, said: “We are looking forward to bringing the Big Christmas Lights Switch-on back to Barrhead.
“Last year, we had almost 5,000 people there and had a lot of success with it, which we hope will continue.
“We’re looking for as many people as possible to get behind this year’s event and show their support.”
Full details of the Christmas lights switch-on will be published in the Barrhead News in due course.
