CELTIC starlet Kundai Benyu has pledged his international future to Zimbabwe, according to the African nation’s manager.

The 19-year-old was snapped up on a four-year deal this summer from Ipswich Town by Brendan Rodgers.

And he’s already featured in four games for the Scottish champions this season and started a league game at Kilmarnock earlier this season.

He’s eligible to play for both England and Zimbabwe, but has decided to play for the African side, despite them not having a game until next year having being banned by Fifa for the World Cup after financial irregularities.

Zimbabwe boss Wellington Mpandare said: “Kundai has now definitely committed his future to us.

“He didn’t feature in our last African Cup of Nations qualfiers because of tactical reasons.

“But he has made it clear he wants to play for us.”
