COMMUTERS in Paisley, Barrhead and Neilston are enjoying more punctual train services than those in other parts of Scotland, latest performance figures have revealed.

The ScotRail Alliance has released Public Performance Measure (PPM) results for services operating across the country, detailing the percentage of trains which arrive at their final destination within five minutes of their scheduled time, having called at all of the stations they were supposed to.

Statistics show that, over the last 12 months, the PPM for the Paisley Canal-Glasgow line stood at 97.2 per cent.

And it was a similar success story on the Barrhead line, where the figure was 95 per cent, while Neilston recorded an even better performance at 97.7 per cent.

These figures compare favourably with the 91.2 per cent total recorded for Scotland as a whole.

And ScotRail’s overall performance improved in the four weeks to September 16, with a PPM of 94.1 per cent achieved.

Perry Ramsey, operations director at the ScotRail Alliance, said: “These figures show that we continue to deliver excellent service.

“For us to achieve our best performance in more than two years is down to the hard work of our people, who continue to go above and beyond to help customers travel about hassle free, but we are far from complacent.

“We know customers want us to get even better and we are delivering the investment to make that happen.”
