A DOG rescue charity is the latest good cause to benefit from fundraising at a Linwood pet shop.

The Royalheart, based in Langbank, is a small organisation which helps one of the most abused breeds of dogs on the planet – the greyhound.

Head fundraiser Lesley Roberts is delighted the organisation will benefit from much needed funds from Pets At Home.

She said: “This has been great news for us, as its getting so much harder for small rescues to compete with bigger companies for funding.”

At present there are around 12 dogs who live at the rescue centre.

Due to being a rescue centre which keeps dog indefinitely, if animals don’t find a new home, the organisation has around four dogs who have been there for a long time.

Lesley added: “One of those dogs is Smudge who is very disabled but can live a normal life with some love and attention.

“We are always on the lookout for new foster families or people who are looking to adopt a dog who is awaiting a home.”
