Celtic will be delighted with the Champions League draw.

With PSG, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht, it gives glamour and prestige but it also offers genuine scope of perhaps still being in Europe after Christmas.

Neymar’s whopping transfer from Barcelona dominated the headlines over the summer while youngster Kylian Mpabbe’s move from Monaco makes them even more formidable.

I watched their game last weekend and I have to say that I thought Neymar was exceptional. Two goals and two assists was his contribution to a 6-2 win and I just wonder if going to PSG and being the main man will make him even better.

Obviously at Barcelona he was one of the star players but Lionel Messi is always going to be the name up in the lights at the Nou Camp.

It occurred to me as I watched him playing for PSG that being the superstar of that team might take him onto another level.

Certainly, him and Scott Brown will enjoy re-acquainting themselves with one another when they meet in Glasgow next month. They have enjoyed a few battles over the years and I am sure that it will be just the same again.

But, this is a group that excites everyone. We all know the quality of Bayern Munich and the pedigree that they bring and these are the nights that it is all about at Celtic.

This is the reward for getting through the qualifiers and everyone now gets the chance to go out and enjoy it.

There are obvious and important financial gains that are made from being involved in the group stages but ultimately for me it is equally important that the club are represented at this level.

It is where you want to be and I am sure that this season Brendan will be desperate to go one further and aim to still be involved in European football after Christmas.

It adds a real layer of intrigue to the domestic season and on their day you always feel that at Celtic Park with the crowd behind them that anything can happen.

Exciting times.
