A BARRHEAD salon is set to feature on a national TV beauty show tonight.

Spa Wars viewers will see staff from the town's Salon One go head-to-head with two other UK businesses to determine whose treatments offer the best value for money.

Employees at the Cross Arthurlie Street business were asked to star in the ITVBe programme earlier this year.

A camera crew then visited Salon One in May to record what will be the final episode of the show's opening series.

Narrated by former The X Factor contestant Rylan Clark-Neal, Spa Wars sees salon owners take it in turns to learn more about their on-screen rivals' treatment options before deciding how much they would be willing to pay for them.

At the end of the three visits, the salon which is paid the highest percentage of their total bill is crowned that week's Spa Wars winner.

Claire McCarroll, who has been in charge of Salon One since 2000, told the Barrhead News of her excitement ahead of the show's debut TV appearance.

The 39-year-old said: “This is the last episode in the series and tonight is our tonight.

“It's supposed to be based around the format of Four In A Bed and other salon owners are visiting their salons and scoring them.

“I don't think reality TV is anything you think it's actually like though.

“You're saying the same line from 100 different angles and it can get a bit tiring.

“But I'm definitely delighted I did it. It was a great experience.”

Spa Wars will air from 8pm on ITVBe, Sky channel 179, Freeview channel 26 and 119 on Virgin Media.
