AN EAST Renfrewshire supermarket is selling a foot-long sausage roll believed to be the biggest in the UK.

Weighing in at nearly half a kilogram, the massive version of the picnic favourite is believed to be the largest on the high street.

Available from the Morrisons store in Fenwick Road, Giffnock, the product is freshly made in-store by Market Street bakers.

It is made with seasoned pork meat and wrapped in golden pastry.

The sausage roll has to be served on a special tray that holds its weight, rather than being served in just the traditional paper bag.

Morrisons created the foot-long sausage roll after customers requested a bigger version of the British classic.

Priced at £1, the jumbo-sized product can be bought hot and ready-to-eat from the Morrisons pie shop counter.

A Morrisons spokesperson said: “We sell hundreds of freshly-baked sausage rolls each week but customers have asked for one that is even bigger, so we created this foot-long version.

“With the start of the football season now here, we’re hoping our foot-long sausage roll will be making its way to the top of the snack league table.”
