I spent a short time of my managerial career in Norway and Rosenborg have always been regarded as the top team in the country.

They are already at the mid-way point of their season so they will be sharper than Celtic on that front, but I have to say that I think Brendan Rodgers’ side will be too strong for the Norwegians.

With the home leg coming next Wednesday then what Celtic will look to do is establish a really strong scoreline with which to go into the second leg with.

Although we are in danger of getting a wee bit ahead of ourselves, this is ideal preparation for the group stages of the Champions League, should they manage to get themselves back in there.

Last year, you would feel that the home leg against Borussia Monchengladbach was the one where Celtic might have felt that they could have done better and if they get back, it will be at Celtic Park where they will look to take maximum points, if they can.

It is at home in the Champions League where you really need to pick up points and be strong so this home game can be an exercise in that.
