IT was fun and games for teachers, parents and pupils from a Barrhead nursery as they took part in a sports day to raise money for charity.

The event was organised by staff from Arthurlie Family Centre (AFC) who raised £394 for Yorkhill Hospital in 2007.

To show their support, nursery staff wore red t-shirts – the primary colour of the charity.

Christine, who was one of the nursery nurses, said: “We had a great day and everyone really enjoyed it.

“This is the first year that parents have been invited to join in with the sports day and they were really eager to take part in the races.

“All the nursery staff got involved and we were provided with red buckets to collect money and stickers to give the kids from Yorkhill Hospital.

“The kids really enjoyed themselves and we split them into teams to take part in the racing, skipping and jumping.

“All of the kids got medals and certificates for taking part. I would like to thank all of the parents and staff for their generosity.”

Staff and pupils of AFC were left devastated after their playground was destroyed by vandals the year before.
