A BUSY stretch of road near Barrhead will be reduced to a single lane for two weeks.

Barrhead Road is set to be shut off to traffic near the junction with Crookston Road as Scottish Water engineers carry out water mains infrastructure work.

The roadworks, which will come into effect on Thursday, July 20, are expected to last for around a fortnight.

In addition, the Barrhead Road shops access route will be closed from the same day until Monday, July 24 and on Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30.

Scottish Water has apologised for any inconvenience and thanked affected road users in advance for their patience and understanding.

Work is progressing to lay a new water main and pumping station at the existing Gorbals Water Treatment Works in Corselet Road, Darnley.

Meanwhile, resurfacing works will be carried out on Fenwick Road, Giffnock, between Orchard Drive and Church Road, from Monday, July 24 until Sunday, August 6.

Four-way temporary traffic signals with pedestrian crossing facilities will be in place between the Orchard Drive and Park Road junctions.

Park Road and St Catherine’s Road will be closed during this time, with diversions in place.
