A BARRHEAD school’s football team were being tipped as stars of the future.
The boys from Carlibar Primary had the ability to play for Scotland, according to coach Graham Hodgson.
He was speaking after the young stars beat “formidable rivals” St Mark’s Primary in a penalty shootout in 2007.
They had also racked up an astonishing track record on home turf – winning all of their games, with the exception of one match which ended in a draw.
Mr Hodgson, a former goalkeeper for Petershill Juniors, had been coaching Carlibar Primary since 1993.
He said: “This team is one of the best-ever and they will definitely all be offered a game when they move to secondary.
“By the time they leave school, the sky is the limit for these boys as far as I am concerned.”
The team had proved its ability by beating rivals such as Cross Arthurlie and St John’s Primaries.
