STAR pupils at a Neilston school were rewarded for their efforts at an annual ceremony.

The talented children at St Thomas’ Primary were presented with certificates and medals as part of the school’s Celebrate Me Day.

Each class showcased their academic highlights through a short video montage before taking to the stage to share their achievements with fellow pupils, staff and family members.

All of the pupils had spent time discussing ways of presenting their favourite memories from the school year with teachers.

The microphone was then handed over to nominated presenters, whose anecdotes had the audience giggling and applauding in equal measure.

Afterwards, medals were presented to youngsters who had represented the school at a variety of events across the year.

The Kieran Keirens Award, in memory of a former pupil, was presented to Aoife O’Donnell, who was adjudged to have consistently demonstrated the school values of respect, honesty, community and positive attitude.

To round the day off, mums and dads were invited to visit the classrooms to take part in activities which showcased the various topics covered by pupils at St Thomas’ Primary during the current term.

Brendan Docherty, headteacher at St Thomas’ Primary, praised all of the pupils for their academic performance.

He told the Barrhead News: “The Celebrate Me Day was very positively received by parents and relatives.

“Once again, our Celebrate Me Day was a very successful way of showcasing each and every child’s success and achievements from across the school year.

“The event also helped to contribute to the positive culture that we are so proud of at St Thomas’ Primary.”
