TERM time is drawing to a close at St Luke’s High...but members of the Barrhead school’s Press Club are still working hard.

Among the events which have been making the news is the school’s annual fun run, which was staged as part of an activities day.

And, as part of the school’s commitment to develop all of its students, responsibility for the planning and organisation of the event was handed to third year pupils who are enrolled on a personal development programme.

Press Club member Lucas Maver was on-hand to report on the day’s events.

Here is his article:

STAFF and pupils at St Luke’s High once again showed their commitment to promoting health and well-being in the community during their annual activities day celebrations on Friday, June 2.

One of the mainstays of this event is the school’s annual fun run, where the whole school has the opportunity to participate in a race around one of Barrhead’s finest routes, the Craigie.

More than 300 excited pupils completed the course, accompanied by a variety of equally eager members of staff.

From speaking to participants and looking at the photographs of the day, it’s clear to see that they did an outstanding job in supporting their school community.

These pupils will also have their own achievements in organising the event celebrated, with the school recording this as part of the SQA Personal Development Award.
