A BIN store at a Barrhead shopping centre was set ablaze in an overnight act of arson.
Firebugs targeted bins behind the Westbourne Centre, in Kelburn Street, some time on June 12 or 13.
No extensive damage was caused but police are on the hunt for those responsible.
Sergeant Michael Morganthaler, based at Giffnock Police Station, said: "We are currently investigating a wilful fireraising which occurred at the rear of the Westbourne Centre, whereby the bin store was deliberately set on fire.
"The fire service had attended and extinguished the fire and it was subsequently reported to the police as a wilful act.
"I would appeal to any members of the public who have information in relation to the perpetrators of this crime to contact the police using 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
A fire service spokeswoman said: "The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called at 8.04pm on Monday, June 12 to reports of a fire at commercial premises in Barrhead.
"Two fire appliances were immediately mobilised to the incident in Kelburn Street.
"Firefighters used a powerful water jet to extinguish a bin fire at the rear of the premises.
"Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe."
