TALENTED members of a Barrhead dance school emerged from their exams with a haul of trophies.

Dancers of various ages and disciplines at the Jayne Arthur Theatre School (JATS) were jumping for joy when the results of their ballet, tap, jazz and Highland final assessments were announced.

Led by dance teacher and former professional Jayne, who is also from Barrhead, the group was presented with certificates, medals and awards aplenty at a recent prizegiving ceremony.

The JATS students recorded a 100 per cent pass rate, with the majority of dancers gaining top marks in their respective genres.

Heaping praise on her young stars, Jayne said: “I take immense pride and satisfaction teaching all pupils myself, along with my loyal assistant Aly Lamond.

“I’m especially proud of all my British and Premiership Award dancers, who were awarded the highest mark in their exams.

“They have been a privilege to teach from a young age. I’ve watched their development and they have grown over the years into lovely, diverse dancers.”

JATS members will take to the stage at Paisley Town Hall on Saturday, June 10, for the school’s annual showcase.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘One World’, with dancers dressing up in a variety of costumes in homage to different cultures.

JATS classes are held at Barrhead Bourock Parish Church during after-school hours every weekday.

All-day sessions take place at the same venue each Saturday.
