A BARRHEAD bride-to-be is looking forward to finding her dream wedding dress after shedding more than four stones.

Lauren Grant tipped the scales at 15st before the embarrassment of not being able to fasten a pair of size 18 trousers on a shopping trip motivated her to sign up to her local Weight Watchers meeting.

The 26-year-old office manager told the Barrhead News: “I’d started piling on the pounds and felt miserable, which affected my self-confidence.

“My mother and sister had lost weight on Weight Watchers and didn’t want me to miss out on the best years of my life, so they encouraged me to sign up.”

Five years on, Lauren now weighs 10st 6lbs and has adopted an active lifestyle ahead of her wedding.

Instead of snacking, she goes for a run with her fiancé every evening and both are looking forward to married life.

Lauren said: “I can’t believe how much my life has changed. I’m now a confident, happy person, who can squeeze into a size eight dress.

“I can’t wait to start trying on wedding dresses. This is something I would have been dreading if I hadn’t lost so much weight.”

Lauren also paid tribute to her Weight Watchers coach Phyllis Templeton, who she describes as “an inspiration”.

She added: “I couldn’t have done it without her. Her weekly pep-talks help motivate me and keep me on track.

“Weight Watchers has changed my life for the better.

“I now have a good understanding of nutrition and make all my meals using delicious Weight Watchers recipes.

“The SmartPoints plan is so simple to use and has taught me about nutrition, helping me to maintain a healthy approach to weight management for life.

“I love the fact that I can save up my points and enjoy a Saturday night treat.

“I always use the App on my phone when I’m shopping at the supermarket. It makes following the plan so easy because I can scan the barcode on all foods and it tells me the SmartPoints values.”
