POLICE were called to Barrhead town centre yesterday afternoon after an elderly man was hit by a bus.
The 86-year-old was struck on the road at Dovecothall Roundabout near St John's Church.
The pensioner escaped from the incident with what police describe as "minor injuries".
An ambulance crew took the man to hospital as a precautionary measure.
Inspector McQuilter said: "An 86-year-old man was hit by a bus near Dovecothall Roundabout in Barrhead at around 4pm yesterday.
"He suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident which happened outside St John's Church.
"An ambulance took the man to hospital as a precaution."
