A BLAZE on an industrial estate in Barrhead is currently being tackled by firefighters.
Crews were called to Shanks Industrial Park today at around 5.10pm.
Four engines have attended the large blaze which has been caused by burning plastic piping.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “We received a call at 5.11pm after receiving separate 999 calls.
“Four fire engines attended to extinguish a large quantity of plastic piping burning in open ground.
“Two main jets are in use which are dampening down the fire at Shanks Industrial Park.
“The incident is still ongoing and it is still unclear to what caused the blaze.”
There were no reports of casualties and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
