EAST Renfrewshire residents could help decide which road maintenance schemes are given priority in residential areas.
The council is considering giving members of the public a vote on which routes they think should top the list of repairs.
In a report to councillors, officials propose that £600,000 be made available for a number of road schemes in residential areas which would not necessarily feature on a priority-based list.
They say: “Local residents could be asked to decide which schemes as implemented by voting. The detailed process, which is at the early planning stages, will use established ‘participatory budgeting principles’ and be progressed should the cabinet be supportive of this proposal.”
