IN this week's Barrhead News we tell how customers are threatening to boycott a Barrhead takeaway after a series of sectarian comments appeared on the owner's Facebook page following the Old Firm derby earlier this month.

We also reveal that East Renfrewshire Council bosses will have to spend over £26 million to bring the region's roads up to standard.

Elsewhere, a Neilston-based dog trainer was named Trainer of the Year at the UK's biggest pet show, while figures show more children than ever before are learning how to swim in Barrhead and Neilston.

Further into the edition lies the latest article from the St Luke's High Press Club. Members have reported on a digital design day, as well as a robotics challenge event.

We also spoke with angry members of East Renfrewshire Disability Action who branded a council-led consultation on wheelchair-accessible taxis as a "complete waste of time".

As ever, our photographer was out and about taking snaps of your events.

We stopped by the Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire base to get pictures of some crafty youngsters who were sewing jackets and beds for the area's dog charities.

Our photographer also popped into a spring fayre at Bourock Parish Church.

This week's Barrhead Sport back page looks ahead to boxer Gary Rae's bout with Simas Volosinas at the Radisson Blue hotel in Glasgow on Thursday.

We also have a report from Dunterlie Park as Arthurlie returned to action for the first time since January.
