A NEILSTON man was killed in a tragic incident in East Kilbride.

Craig Kearney, 24, was found seriously injured in the street at around 2.20am.

The former St Luke's High School pupil died at the scene on Lochranza Drive as emergency services rushed to his aid.

A crime tent was erected as forensic teams taped off streets.

Craig was found close to partner Olivia Geraghty’s family home.

A keen amateur footballer, former team-mates and pals last night paid tribute on social media.

Andy Duncan said: “Shocked. RIP Craig Kearney. Always had a smile on his face.”

Debbie Young added: “Seems far too young. His poor family and girlfriend.”

His old team — AFC Bonnyholm in Pollok — tweeted a snap of Craig with the squad.

Police last night continued appealing for witnesses.

A spokeswoman said: “A 24-year-old man was found injured on the road. However he died a short time later.”
