THERE was a double treat for Barrhead shoppers when Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire held a joint Craft and Farmers’ Market.
The charity’s Kelburn Street premises were packed as locals picked up a bargain or two and enjoyed delicious home-baking at the community café.
Around 15 stalls sold a wide range of goods from organic honey and eggs to slippers, needlework and cakes earlier this month.
Francesca McKay, from Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire, said the event was such a success, the charity planned to hold similar markets.
“We know craft markets and farmers’ markets are very popular so we decided to combine them,” she said.
“People really enjoyed the day and we plan to hold a similar market again.”
One of the day’s big sellers was the Botanist hand-made soap which is produced in Barrhead.
All money from the soap sale and the proceeds from the market will be used to fund art programmes in East Renfrewshire.
