A SCHOOL that has undergone numerous leadership changes has been praised by inspectors.

Springhill and Auchenback Primary School in Barrhead, has a “strong caring atmosphere,” according to the report from Education Scotland.

The headteacher has provided stability and staff have strong and positive relationships with pupils.

Among the schools key strengths are staff being responsive to children’s social and emotional needs and including pupils fully in the life of the school.

Staff were also praised for providing a range of experiences to improve children’s wellbeing including a variety of out-of-school learning.

The report called on the school to provide clearer leadership and direction to ensure rigorous and robust approaches to tracking and monitoring the work of the school.

Staff should work together to share effective practice across the school to ensure high quality learning and teaching in all lessons.

Inspectors said they were confident that the school has the capacity to continue to improve and did not plan any further visits in connection with this inspection.

The school on Springhill Road was formerly Springhill Primary School.

However it merged with Auchenback Primary when the latter closed in 2012 to make way for a new early years centre and nursery.
