ST LUKE’S High's annual stage show took theatregoers on a trip down memory lane.

Pupils of varying ages from the Barrhead school performed their ‘Back to the 80s’ production for family and friends at Eastwood Park Theatre.

Audience members were treated to two nights of theatre which served as a real blast from the past for some of those in attendance.

Students donned an array of 80s fashion outfits to take on roles as William Ocean High School graduates living through their final senior year.

The production, originally written by Neil Gooding, depicted the fun, heartbreak, loves and loneliness of growing up – all of which was set to the biggest songs of that decade.

Dozens of the youngsters’ relatives took their seats at the Giffnock theatre to see the pupils demonstrate their singing, dancing and acting skills.

Creative arts teaching staff praised all of the participating students for the time and effort they dedicated to the shows, as well as some of their colleagues who also featured.

‘Back to the 80s’ organiser Amanda Gracie also singled out the production’s protagonists for their hard work.

She said: “Audiences were thrilled with the performances and commented on the high standard of the acting, singing and choreography.

“The main characters, including Lucy Deehan, Isabella McMullen, Kirsten Traynor, Briony McKelvie, Kyle Martin, Adam Canning, Clare Robinson, Amy Houston, Aidan McGuigan, Jayden Petch and Ryan McGuire, showed that the level of talent at St Luke’s High is as strong as ever.

“Even some of the male teachers made an appearance in the song ‘Footloose’ and the Star Wars dream sequence had the audience in stitches, showing that performance skills are not just the premise of the pupils.

“All of the cast members involved put in a tremendous performance and they had the audience up on their feet, singing in the finale.”
