EAST Renfrewshire Council has issued a final reminder about this week's primary school registration deadline.

Parents with children who will be aged five between March 1 and the end of February 2018 have until this Friday to register their child.

Applications to denominational and non-denominational schools can be made each day this week at the region's schools between 1.45pm and 3.30pm.

The local authority has asked parents and carers to register children at their local catchment area school in the first instance, even if they have plans to make a placing request or to defer for another year.

ERC has also released a list of documents needed during the application process.

These are: a child's birth certificate, current council tax notice, Roman Catholic baptismal certificate (if applicable), mortgage statement tor rental agreement for a period of at least one year and a child benefit statement.

A driving licence, utility bill or bank statement can also be accepted if the applicant is no longer in receipt of child benefit.

Applicants must also have proof they no longer live at another property they still own.
