CHRISTMAS gifts, balloons and plenty of chatter dominated the Neilston Girls’ Brigade table-top sale bonanza.

Youngsters invited friends, family and the community to a fun-filled event that brought guests right into the festive spirit.

The event took place at Neilston Parish Church Halls, where the group host the Girls’ Brigade sessions on a weekly basis.

Here, the youngsters were on a mission to raise funds for their upcoming camp outing due to take place over the Easter.

And their efforts proved to be a success after they raised almost £300 through tickets and sales generated on the day.

Those attending grabbed a bargain from the fantastic stalls on offer, which included glittery glasses, jewellery and custom-made photo frames.

For those who fancied a break from all the excitement, there was plenty of tea, coffee and cake to refuel on.

Neilston Girls’ Brigade group leader, Annette McKinnon, said: “We had a fantastic day and there was plenty of great gifts to choose from.

“There was a mix of friends, family and members of the community.”

“The brigade is beneficial as there are lots of fantastic activities for the girls and they can make friends.

“We have a quite a comprehensive badge work system too and work towards our end of year display in may.”

This is the third annual tabletop event from the girls which they host just before Christmas, to ensure guests can pick up unique festive gifts on time.

A balloon model girl ensured youngsters were entertained and her designs went down a storm.

So much so, she will be hosting a workshop with the Neilston Girls Brigade in January to pass on her skills.

“The girls also had a really exciting weekend after taking part in the Neilston Players Panto production of Cinderella,” continued Annette.

“They were on stage singing the chorus as the villagers for two of the shows which was a great day for them.

“We managed to raise £283 which will go towards the annual camp trip over the Easter break.

“Other events coming up include a quiz night and family disco which we hope to arrange in the coming months.”

The Neilston Girls Brigade meet in the Parish Church Hall on a Monday where primary one to three gather from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

The junior group of primary four to seven and the senior secondary group both meet from 7pm to 8.15pm.

Anyone interested in joining is welcome to come along and speak to Annette.
