ST LUKE'S High pupils have become the face of an appeal aimed at helping the world's poorest people.

Youngsters from the Barrhead school were chosen to front the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund's Real Gifts project.

Created to assist the vulnerable, the Christmas appeal will help families affected by war, hunger and poverty worldwide.

Every penny spent on SCIAF’s Real Gifts goes directly to projects providing much needed help to the many thousands of people the charity works with in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Lifesaving emergency gifts such as a shelter for a homeless family costs £32 and as little as £14 can provide a gift of chickens to give a family a nutritious supply of eggs.

A gift bought for £26 can also help to send a child to school.

those who buy a SCIAF Real Gift this Christmas will be helping to make a difference to the lives of some of the most deprived people on the planet.

Provided orders are placed before December 15, people who purchase a Real Gift will also receive a gift card and fridge magnet relating to their present.
