Active Stirling recently said a fond farewell to Ray Findlay, a much loved volunteer walk leader.

Ray Findlay has been volunteering with Active Stirling and the Stirling walking network since 2006. Ray has led various walks over the period clocking up over 1,500 volunteering hours.

After giving the programme 10 years of his time, Ray has made the decision to move on from his volunteering role with Active Stirling. His last walk as a leader with the programme was Monday, August 30 at the Stirling Community Hospital Health Walk.

Ray has made a significant difference to many individuals and communities during his time volunteering, thanks to his ongoing enthusiasm and his ability to make everyone feel at ease. Active Stirling would like to take this opportunity to thank Ray and wish him an enjoyable retirement filled with many more walking adventures.

Jude Deacons, Active Stirling community physical activity and sport manager said: “Ray has always been a committed walk leader going over and above to help people who need extra support during walks.

"He has encouraged many people over the years and supports them even out with the walks. Checking how walkers are feeling and ensuring even if they can no longer make the walks they still come along for the cup of tea afterwards. Without the hard work and dedication from our walk leaders like Ray, we would not be able to run the programme.”
