A BARRHEAD church has released a video of the shocking moment two burglars attempt to prise open its front doors.

St John's Church on Aurs Road is sharing the images in an attempt to aid Police Scotland in its investigations.

The images of men who may be able to assist police have been posted on the church's Facebook site alongside CCTV footage showing two hooded indivdiauls using what appears to be a pry-bar to lever a door open.

A post on the church's Facebook said: "The church was broken into on Sunday evening. Two people were spotted in the church grounds around 11.35pm.

"They could be able to help the police with their investigation into the break in.

"If you recognise them, or recognise a car parked at the church at that time, please call police Scotland on 101 so they can further their investigation with their help."

Father Paul Brady said: "On Sunday night an amount of money was taken, coins and small notes - this was donated money.

"The latest one today was more of an opportunistic theft."
