KINDHEARTED Carlibar Primary School pupils have raised over £600 for the Beatson Cancer Charity.

Teachers and schoolchildren teamed up to organise a Strawberry Tea fundraiser on behalf of the Glasgow-based charity on June 9.

Kids in primary one grew and sold sunflowers to add a touch of yellow to the day – the main colour of the Beatson Cancer Centre.

Older pupils from primary seven ran their own tuck shop and assisted with the sale of Beatson wristbands and car stickers, while dozens of parents contributed generously to a raffle.

Staff at the Barrhead school did their bit to ensure the day was a sweet success.

Headteacher Mrs MacIntyre donated all of the teddies she has received over the years to a teddy tombola.

Primary six teacher Mr Mullan then kindly volunteered to be drenched in the name of charity as he offered his services for a 'Soak the Teacher' event – an activity that proved extremely popular with the youngsters.

Other fundraising activities included: a beat the goalie competition, a pocket money toy stall, a 'Dress as You Please' day and a hook-a-duck stall.

Some of the stall holders who handed over prizes for the school's raffle also made a £10 donation for each of their tables to help bolster the final total.

So far, Carlibar Primary School staff and pupils have managed to raise an impressive £631.91 for the Beatson Cancer Charity.

That figure is set to rise even higher as some donations were made into a sealed tin that was returned to the charity unopened.

The Beatson Cancer Charity works to support and enhance the treatment, care and well-being of current, former and future cancer patients and their families.
