A WARNING has been issued to residents in Barrhead and East Renfrewshire after bogus callers struck in nearby Pollok.
Police fear that the crooks could be heading towards East Renfrewshire after they stole thousands of pounds in cash from nearby Mosspark and a second home in Pollok.
At 2.30pm yesterday a house in Peat Rd, Pollok, was targeted by three men claiming to be checking water pipes.
Whilst the house holder was distrcated in the kitchen a four figure sum of money was stolen from elsewher in the house And at 4.15pm a second house in Alness Crescent, Mosspark was targeted by three men using the same story again and a four figure sum of money was stolen.
In both incidents the males were described as having English accents Community inspector Alan Dickson said: "My concern is that these individuals pop up in East Renfrewshire at some point.
"I am asking people to think before opening the door.
"If they have a chain use it and question anybody who attends at their home unexpectedly.
"If they are in any doubt contact either ourselves or local trading standards."
