POLICE closed a road after a car burst into flames during rush-hour in Newton Mearns.
Several members of the public alerted the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to the blaze which happened at around 6.10pm last night on the A726.
The road is situated near the M77 at the Mearnskirk junction.
Crews from Clarkston and East Kilbride arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze using a single high pressure jet.
No was injured and police closed the road to around 8pm.
