A FOOTBALL team has changed its shirt sponsor to support the fight against pancreatic cancer.

Eastwood Juvenile U19s players will now turn out in kits featuring the Pancreatic Cancer Action logo in a bid to raise awareness of the deadly disease.

The club is supporting coach David Fitzpatrick, founder of the Action 4 Patricia and Paul fund, who has lost two family members to the illness and will host a charity match and family funday at Giffnock North Social Club this Sunday.

"We are so pleased that Eastwood Juveniles are supporting the cause," David said.

"Thank you to MKM building supplies who sponsored Eastwood Juveniles 21st season as a club, and have done for the last 21 years.

"One of the directors at the Glasgow Branch, Craig, was keen to support the cause because his mother sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer.

"Sadly, I am all too familiar with the devastating impact of pancreatic cancer. Our family have lost two special people both our beloved mother and my brother, Paul, to this disease.

"We raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Action because they have taken awareness of pancreatic cancer so far afield. I only wish our family GP had more knowledge of it whilst treating my mother and brother."

Action 4 Patricia and Paul seeks to educate the medical community and support patients all while raising awareness of a disease which has had a survival rate of just four per cent for the last 40 years.

Pancreatic Cancer Action focusses on improving that figure by encouraging people to recognise the symptoms early on.

More information about the charity can be found online at pancreaticcanceraction.org.

All are welcome to attend the Action 4 Patricia and Paul funday which starts at 11am and runs until midnight.
