Talented young movie makes are hosting their very own film festival and are looking for fresh talent.

Wee Red Dot 2016 is Renfrewshire’s Youth Voice Film and Media Festival.

The event takes place on Saturday, March 19, at the Paisley Arts Centre as part of the Inspire Youth Arts Festival.

Under the guidance of local film maker Gillian Steel, 10 youngsters will gather at Paisley Museum to coordinate the festival.

Organised by young people for young people there’s a mix of local films, master class presentations and special guests.

Charlie Collins, 16, is part of the Wee Red Dot Youth Panel and began making films aged 12 after joining Club Animate in Paisley.

He said: “Just last year I was given the chance to have a presentation at the Wee Red Dot Festival, giving advice on how to make animations.

“And now a year on, myself and nine other young people are organising the film festival for ourselves.

“It is a great opportunity to be involved in a local project and to help show the talent that we have in Renfrewshire.

“Me and the group are all film makers ourselves and we are really looking forward to see what films other young people have made.

“On a personal level I am applying for film school and getting involved with local projects like this can only help me in my chosen career”.

Wee Red Dot Coordinator Gillian Steel added: “As a local film maker its great to see the next generation of young talent.

“The young people are really enthusiastic and so capable especially with social media.

“We have a great group of 10 young film ambassadors who are all film makers in their own right.

“We are really looking forward to seeing great films by local young talent so please send in your videos”.

Wee Red Dot is supported by Renfrewshire Leisure, Into Film Scotland, Renfrewshire Youth Services, LEAP, Create Paisley, Kibble Education and Care Centre, PACE Productions and I Am Me.
