Nominations are open from 10 November and anyone who is 16 or over, on the electoral register and passionate about their local area, is being asked to take a fresh look at their community council and complete a nomination form before the 9 December deadline.

Nominations are being sought for three community councils in Broom, Kirkhill and Mearns Kirk; Crookfur, Greenfarm and Mearns Village and Giffnock.

The call out for nominations is part of the second phase of work to establish community councils across East Renfrewshire.

East Ren is committed to having a full quota of vibrant community councils and supporting all eleven community councils to be re-established.

Councillor Mary Montague launched the election campaign and said: “We’re looking for people from all walks of life. All you need are ideas, energy and enthusiasm and we will provide as much support as you need to get the best from being a community representative.” Following the elections, new community councils will be established and training and support will be provided for all new community representatives.
